PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid soap excellent in rapidly foaming properties, foam volume, foam elasticity, foam retention, sustainable moisture after rinsing, formability and storage stability.SOLUTION: A solid soap comprises: a component (a) of 70 to 92.8 mass% of fatty acid alkali metal salt a component (b) of 1 to 9 mass% of fatty acid a component (c) of 0.1 to 3% of polyalcohol a component (d) of 0.1 to 8% of polyoxyethylene sorbitan monolaurate in which the average addition molar number of ethylene oxide is 80 to 100 mol and a component (e) of 6 to 18% of water. The fatty acid constituting the component (a) comprises 15 to 35 mass% of lauric acid, 55 to 75 mass% of myristic acid and 5 to 20 mass% of palmitic acid, and the total amount of lauric acid, myristic acid and palmitic acid is 95 to 100 mass%. Alkali metal in the component (a) is potassium and sodium, and the mass ratio of potassium to sodium is 1/4 to 3/2. The total amount of the components (b) and (d) is 2 to 10 mass%, and the mass ratio of the component (b) to the component (d) is 1/4 to 4.
