The femoral component of a hip implant is disclosed. The femoral component may be used particularly in neck sparing resection (i.e., a treatment or device that does not remove the femoral neck) and may include a central calcaneous portion of the proximal and proximal thighs, A short stem (compared to a conventional stem) having a terminal flare portion for contacting internally. Other features of the femoral component include flat side portions on the front and back sides of the stem and include lateral pins or wings or T-backs that help to withstand torsional loads . The femoral component may also include a sagittal slot for proper fitting and placement in the femoral canal. The femoral component may include a neck component with which the module is formed with respect to the stem component.
