PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutter which causes only a little collapse of the tissues of a cut part, and can obtain a rootstock with a smooth cut surface.SOLUTION: A side of a top face 10 of a main body 2 of a rootstock cutter is directed at a rootstock by holding a grip 3, and with a height defined, an abutment face 20 of a positioning holding part 19 is provided along a side face of a stem S. When a thumb of a hand holding the grip 3 pushes a base end 23 of a cutter holding member 4 to a side of a tip end 22, the cutter holding member 4 is guided together with a cutter 6 by guide groove 29 and a spring receiving guide groove 30, moved obliquely in a direction of a tip end side, that is, a first standing wall 14 with regard to the main body 2, and is stopped by contacting the standing wall 14. Meanwhile, the cutter 6 gradually cuts into the stem S while moving in the extension direction of a blade 34 with regard to the stem S, and finally cuts the stem completely.
