Site specific drug delivery system has been most awaited drug delivery system. The iron oxide such as magnetite, hematite, maghemite are used for site targeted drug delivery. Among all these Iron Oxides magnetite is widely used. Conventional methods reported for the preparation of magnetite uses heating and aeration of the solution mixture. The time period required for the completion of reaction is very high around six to seven hours for the completion of the process, and the particle size obtained for the magnetite by conventional methods is very high around 40 microns. As per the requirement of the parentral dosage form in magnetic targeted drug delivery system the particle size required is less than or up to 5 microns. The novel methods developed by us uses homogenizer (Homogenizer T 25 Ultra Turrex) and microwave (CATA-2R) with aeration for preparation of magnetite which the conventional method does not use. The time period required for the completion of reaction is less as compare to conventional methods, and the particle size obtained is in between 0.2 micrometer to 2.004 micrometer.
