The invention relates to a system for testing the functionality of an atomizer for dispensing a fluid in the form of an aerosol. The system contains the atomizer and a testing device. The atomizer has a container with the fluid and a housing part for inserting and/or replacing the container. The container can be moved relative to the housing part in order to dispense the fluid, and the testing device has a measuring device for measuring the movement of the container when dispensing the fluid. The invention further relates to a method for testing the functionality of an atomizer for dispensing a fluid in the form of an aerosol, wherein the atomizer has a container with the fluid and a housing part for inserting and/or replacing the container； the container is moved relative to the housing part in order to dispense the fluid； and the movement of the container is measured and/or analyzed when dispensing the fluid.
