A dialysis authentication system, comprising: at least one dialysis component selected from a dialyzer, a sorbent cartridge containing one or more sorbent materials, and a recharger for recharging one or more sorbent materials in the sorbent cartridge; at least one authentication component comprising a unique identifier; and a processor to receive the information from the unique identifier of the at least one authentication component, wherein the data are processed by the processor for making a determination regarding the at least one dialysis component; wherein the information from the authentication component can include whether or not the at least one dialysis component has been recharged; whether or not the at least one dialysis component has been previously used; the date the at least one dialysis component was last used, if that at least one dialysis component is matched to a patient, information pertaining to an individual patient, if the at least one component is authentic, the length of time between uses of the at least one dialysis component, and/or whether the at least one dialysis component matches the dialysis system..L'invention concerne un système d'authentification de dialyse comprenant un composant de dialyse (11) ayant un composant d'authentification (60) tel qu'un marqueur d'identification par radiofréquence, un code à barres (60), un composant de sécurité à un fil, ou un composant d'authentification sans fil fixé sur celui-ci.
