The present invention relates to a joystick-based electric wheelchair control system and a method thereof. The system according to the present invention comprises: an operation portion detachably coupled to a joystick of the electric wheelchair for transmitting movement and operation signals of the joystick according to a gesture and a control portion for providing a user terminal with the received movement and operation signals of the joystick. According to the present invention, by using the operation portion which is detachably attached to the joystick of the electric wheelchair without modifying the electric wheelchair, the user terminal can be controlled.본 발명은 조이스틱 기반의 전동 휠체어 제어 시스템 및 방법에 관한 것으로, 본 발명에 따른 시스템은 전동 휠체어의 조이스틱에 착탈 가능하게 장착되어 제스처에 따른 조이스틱의 움직임 및 조작 신호를 전송하는 조작부, 그리고 전송받은 조이스틱의 움직임 및 조작 신호를 사용자 단말에 제공하는 제어부를 포함한다. 본 발명에 의하면, 전동 휠체어를 개조하지 않고도 전동 휠체어의 조이스틱에 착탈 가능하게 장착된 조작부를 이용하여 사용자 단말을 제어할 수 있다.
