According to the present invention, disclosed are an apparatus for determining a more accurate physical activity state and a method thereof. According to the present invention, an apparatus for determining a level of physical activity includes: an acceleration sensor for outputting a signal for the motion of three axes； a real-time temporary storage unit for accumulating and temporarily storing a difference between the motion of each of the axes outputted from the acceleration sensor and an immediately generated motion, that is, a motion variation, and a motion occurrence time； a control part for calculating a current exercise amount by multiplying a weighting value by the motion variation accumulated in the temporary storage unit at a predetermined time interval, calculating an average exercise amount during a previous unit period, and calculating the level of current physical activity with reference to the immediately generated level of physical activity； and a storage unit for storing the level of current physical activity calculated at a predetermined time interval by the control unit. The weight may be a value obtained by dividing the unit time by the accumulated motion time during the unit time.본 명세서는 보다 정확한 신체 활동 상태를 판단할 수 있는 장치 및 방법을 개시한다. 본 명세서에 따른 신체 활동 레벨 판단 장치는, 3축의 움직임에 대한 신호를 출력하는 가속도 센서； 실시간으로 상기 가속도 센서에서 출력된 각축의 움직임과 직전에 발생한 움직임과의 차이 즉 움직임 변화량과 움직임 발생 시간을 누적하여 임시 저장하는 실시간 임시 저장부； 미리 설정된 시간 간격마다 임시 저장부에 누적된 움직임 변화량에 가중치를 곱하여 현재의 운동량을 산출하고 이전 단위 구간 동안의 평균 운동량을 산출하며 이와 직전 신체 활동 레벨을 참조하여 현재의 신체 활동 레벨을 산출하는 제어부； 상기 제어부에서 미리 설정된 시간 간격으로 산출된 현재의 신체 활동 레벨을 저장하는 저장부；를 포함하는 신체 활동 레벨 판단 장치로서, 상기 가중치는, 단위 시간을 상기 단위 시간 동안의 발생한 누적 움직임 시간으로 나눈 값일 수 있다.
