PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for treating wastewater in hydroponic cultivation for genetically modified plants economically and reliably preventing leakage of plant pieces and cells.
SOLUTION: The method for treating wastewater in hydroponic cultivation for genetically modified plants includes: connecting a filtering device 11 having a water intake path 12 with a water intake valve VA, an inner filter 14 catching the plant pieces and cells, and a drain outlet 13, to a drainage flow path 10 connecting a steam introducing path 16 with an introduction valve VB to a portion between the water intake valve VA of the water intake path 12 and the filter 14 closing the introduction valve VB when the water intake valve VA is opened so as to discharge wastewater while catching the plant pieces and cells in the wastewater D with the filter 14 and opening the introduction valve VB when the water intake valve VA is closed and maintaining the inside of the filtering device 11 to have a temperature for inactivating the plant pieces and cells via high-pressure steam S for a prescribed time followed by renewing the filter 14. Preferably, the filtering device 11 and the steam introducing path 16 are each set up to a plurality of drainage paths 21 of a wastewater retention tank 20 disposed upstream of the filtering device 11 so that the water intake valve VA of other filtering device 11 is opened to continuously treat the wastewater D when the water intake valve VA of any filtering device 11 is closed.
