The present invention regards an ophthalmic composition comprising a mixture comprising, a or alternatively, consisting of an antibiotic and a corticosteroid, and optionally one or more pharmaceutical grade additives and excipients； said composition being for use in a method for the prophylaxis of post- surgical infections and the treatment of inflammatory events in a patient previously subjected to eye surgery, preferably cataract surgery.
