An aerosol provision system, such as an electronic cigarette, comprising a liquid storage area comprising a liquid formulation, an aerosol generating area and a membrane disposed between the two areas and fluidly communicating them, wherein the formulation has a water content of at least 18% w/w. The liquid formulation may also comprise glycerol, propylene glycol and nicotine. The device may additionally include a liquid distribution component disposed between the membrane and liquid storage area to guide the supply of liquid. The system may also comprise a detachable body section comprising a rechargeable power source, control unit and notification means.
