PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably keeping viscosity of a composition which contains a cellulose-based thickening agent and is applied to a mucous membrane, and to provide the composition of which the viscosity is stably kept.SOLUTION: This composition contains the cellulose-based thickening agent, a nonoinic surfactant, and a specified plant oil, so that the viscosity of the composition is prevented from being decreased, because the plant oil is contained therein.
