The present invention relates to load-carrying cholesteryl ester nanoparticles (“cholestosomes”) having a hollow portion consisting essentially of one or more nonionic cholesteryl esters and one or more encapsulated active molecules. If the active molecule is not loaded onto the cholestosome, it cannot pass through the gut cell membrane appreciably. The cholestosome has a neutral surface and has the ability to pass enterocytes in the manner of nutrient lipids that are orally absorbed using the cellular pathway to the Golgi apparatus.
