The present invention relates to a harmful fungus inhibitor which is excellent in growth inhibitory power of fungus by mixing a specific purified pyroligneous liquor having excellent antibacterial activity with an appropriate solvent； and a method of removing harmful fungus, which is capable of effectively removing fungus grown in various mushrooms, particularly Phellinus linteus by using the harmful fungus growth inhibitor. The harmful fungus growth inhibitor of the present invention is obtained by homogeneously mixing pyroligneous liquor as a main ingredient with a solvent and an edible glacial acetic acid. The harmful fungus growth inhibitor and the method of removing harmful fungus by using the harmful fungus growth inhibitor of the present invention provide a fungus inhibitor by mixing a specific pyroligneous liquor having excellent antibacterial activity with Pretanol, i.e., a food additive, thereby providing a harmful fungus inhibitor which is excellent in growth inhibitory power of fungus.
