PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a soil material for growing plants, having good moisture retention.SOLUTION: The method for producing a soil material for growing plants includes: a primary step of preparing leaf mold and/or sludge, carbon powder, common soil, shellfish fossil, iron powder and carbon liquid as raw materials, mixing the raw materials together at a prescribed ratio and stirring the mixture a secondary step of admixing desired plant seeds with the raw materials and stirring the mixture and a third step of adding solidification material to the mixed and stirred materials and stirring the mixture.
