A grass catcher mounting device is provided for a reel mower cutting unit (12), including a pair of outwardly extending pivot rods (66, 68) on the left and right sides of the grass catcher (14), and a pair of slots (60, 62) in the side panels (26, 28) of the reel mower cutting unit (12) receiving the pivot rods (66, 68) such that the grass catcher (14) can pitch with respect to the reel mower cutting unit (12). The mounting device also includes a forwardly extending center support (58) on which the grass catcher (14) rests and which supports most of the weight of the grass catcher (14). The center support (58) allows the grass catcher (14) to pitch, roll and steer or yaw.
