An arrangement and method for accommodating a wheelchair in a passenger vehicle, the arrangement including: first and second seating rows each having one or more seats therein, the seats in the first and second seating rows each having a seat back and a seat squab, the seat squab being removable, the seats in the first seating row movable with respect to the floor of the vehicle in a movement direction which extends between the first and second seating rows； and the seats in the first row may be moved from an initial position, in which the first and second seating rows are spaced apart in a suitable manner to accommodate able bodied passengers, to a final position for accommodating a wheelchair, in which, relative to the initial position, the first seating row is moved in the movement direction away from the second seating row so that the space between the first and second seating rows is increased.
