A surgical cutting blade (104) for cutting bone material when the blade is coupled to a hand-held surgical saw (102) includes a distal portion (182) comprising a plurality of cutting teeth (184), a shank portion (183) adjacent the distal portion, and a proximal portion (180) adjacent the shank portion. The proximal portion may include a longitudinally extending slot (188) having a proximal opening (192). The slot may be shaped to receive a portion of the surgical saw through the proximal opening. The proximal portion may have a plurality of deflectable fingers (214) respectively separated from a plurality of main body portions (212) by respective gaps (216).
