PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impose restrictions on operation of a medical support arm device.SOLUTION: A control unit of the medical support arm according to the present disclosure includes: a position acquisition part for detecting a spatial position of a point of application on a multi-link structure configured by connecting a plurality of links by an indirect part； a comparison part for comparing a movable range of the preset point of application with the spatial position； and an operation restriction part for restricting operation of the point of application on the basis of a result of the comparison.
