Provided is a coating composition which contains (A) an alginic acid salt and (B) a plasticizer, and which is capable of delivering a coated material such as a coated active ingredient to the intestine since the coating composition does not dissolve in the stomach but dissolves in the intestine. This coating composition has excellent coating properties and is capable of providing a uniform coating without chipping or peeling.
