PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article in which, even when compression force in a width direction is applied from a thigh part of a wearer, a thick area of an absorbent core is hardly bent in a direction separating from a skin of a wearer, and which can achieve excellent leakage prevention property in sleeping.SOLUTION: An absorbent article 1 of the present invention comprises a surface sheet 2, a rear surface sheet 3, and an absorbent core 4, in which the absorbent core 4 has a center thick area 41 which is thicker than parts in the surrounding of the center thick area, and which forms a ridge part 12 on a skin contact surface side of the article. An outside low basis weight groove part 51 is provided on an adjacent portion of the center thick area 41 or on the center thick area 41, and inside low basis weight groove parts 52, 53 are provided on a width direction center side of the outside low basis weight groove parts 51. The outside low basis weight groove part 51, the inside low basis weight groove parts 52, 53 are formed on each of both sides of a longitudinal direction center line CL and there are a front part in which, an interval between corresponding grooves decreases gradually toward a front direction, and a rear part in which the interval between the corresponding grooves decreases gradually toward a rear direction.
