The present invention is related to a pharmaceutical composition for use in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), wherein the composition comprises (a) the combined compounds consisting of 40-93% verproside, 1.0-10% veratric acid, 2.0-25% catalposide, 1.0-15% picroside II, 1.0-15% isovanilloyl catalpol and 2.0-25% 6-O-veratroyl catalpol, or (b) verproside, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.
