A tanning (fake tan, self-tan, sunless tan) composition containing a tanning component (3-10 w/w%), a lavender component (0.1-10 w/w%) and a carrier. There is a cannabis extract containing cannabidiol (CBD, sativa, 0.01-10 w/w%). The tanning component is a polyhydroxy-ketone (ketose, dihydroxyacetone, erythrulose) or a mixture of aldo-hexose sugar (aldose) and beta-glucan (polysaccharide). The lavender (Lavandula, lavendulyl, linalool, linalyl acetate) is an oil or extract from Lavandula angustifolia. There is an aqueous carrier, which contains one or more polyols (propylene, glycol, butylene glycol, glycerol), a preservative (phenoxyethanol, benzyl alcohol, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate), as well as further substance selected from parfum, courmarin, pH adjusting agents (triethanolamine, citric acid), Aloe Barbadensis powder, EDTA salts (tetrasodium EDTA). The composition is in a dispensing spray container, a tube or a bottle, as a spray, dry oil or mousse, and is provided a method of administering to the skin an effective amount of the tanning composition.
