The invention relates to a handling system (1) that makes it possible to place a wheeled sleeping unit (2), particularly a hospital bed, in a high position for a maintenance operation. The system comprises a supporting device (3) that is slidably mounted along a 5 guide assembly (4, 5) and is provided with a receiving assembly (10) that is hinged onto one or more vertical slidable portions (EC1, EC2) of the device (3) that are adjacent to a raising area (Z). A sleeping unit (2) can be placed in said area (Z), above a lifting portion (6) defined by the receiving assembly, and a longitudinal side (2a) of the unit (2) can be positioned 10 against an abutment surface (7) of the assembly. The receiving assembly (10) comprises a holding element (18) that fits into the top of the unit so as to lock the positioning of said unit in the receiving assembly, which makes it possible to change the orientation of the unit after a raising phase.Le système de manutention (1) permet de positionner en hauteur une unité de couchage (2) roulante, notamment un lit dhôpital, pour une opération de maintenance.
