Method for the discontinuous production of carbonates of at least two transition metals, which can have hydroxide(s) from the corresponding transition metals, characterised in that at least one aqueous solution that contains at least two transition metal salts with cations of a total of at least two different transition metals, is combined with at least one solution of at least one carbonate or hydrogen carbonate from at least one alkali metal or ammonium, wherein a stirring power of at least 0.25 W/l is introduced and wherein the reaction volume during the mixing with alkali metal (hydrogen) carbonate is maintained at a substantially constant level by separating the fluid phase while the solution of alkali metal (hydrogen) carbonate and/or alkali metal hydroxide is added.
