Further disclosed is a formulation comprising one or more of Rheum palmatum, Chrysanthemum indicum and Sanguisorba officinalis extracts, or prevalent molecules therefrom in combination with acyclovir and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.Disclosed also is a method for treating herpesvirus infections by administering a formulation comprising extracts of Rheum palmatum, Chrysanthemum indicum or Sanguisorba officinalis extracts or prevalent molecules therefrom with or without an antiviral agent, such as acyclovir and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
