Methods of treating or preventing microbial infections (eg, nosocomial infections) in which the underlying pathology involves PNAG-containing microbial biofilms are provided. The methods of the invention generally involve administering to a subject an effective amount of an antibody that specifically binds to PNAG, interrupting or inhibiting the formation of a PNAG-containing microbial biofilm.
