PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily detect the opening direction of a lateral branch with higher accuracy.SOLUTION: A lateral branch opening direction detection device includes: a lateral branch direction detection electrode 3 for detecting the opening direction of a lateral branch e； an electric motor for rotation driving for rotating and driving a lateral branch direction detection electrode 3； and a holder 20 for holding the lateral branch direction detection electrode 3 in the attachable and detachable manner. The lateral branch direction detection electrode 3 includes: a conductive metal 31； an insulating film 32 covering the conductive metal 31； a lateral branch direction detection opening 32a formed by peeling off a part of the insulating film 32； and a supporting section 31a formed on the base termination side of the lateral branch direction detection electrode 3.
