The method may further comprise computing a movement of the one or more joints to effect a side-by-side movement or reconfiguration movement that may include movement of the one or more locking joints. While movement of the locking joints performing the manipulation is counteracted, ancillary movement and reconfigurable movement can be overlapped with the movement of the joints to allow movements of the locking joints to perform ancillary movement or reconstruction movement.
