Disclosed are complexes comprising a mineral-amino acid compound conjugated to a polysaccharide, including compositions and methods of making and using such complexes Further disclosed is a complex of one or more mineral-amino acid compounds conjugated to one or more polysaccharides, wherein the complex is prepared by a process comprising heating a composition consisting of water, one or more mineral-amino acid compounds, and one or more polysaccharides at a temperature from about 100 degrees F (37.8 degrees C) to about 180 degrees F (82.2 degrees C) to form said complex.
