The present invention relates to an aqueous dispersion of a class of organic phosphate functionalized microspheres having a particle size in the range of from 1 µm to 25 µm, and a process for preparing the dispersion. The microspheres, which have a low coefficient of variation and low gel concentration, are useful in coatings applications, especially where a matte finish is desired.
