PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod holding device facilitating and ensuring attachment/detachment work of a fishing rod and providing an angler with a feeling of safety in actual fishing.SOLUTION: A fishing rod holding device 30 includes: a head 33 to be fixed to a butt part 49 of a fishing rod 34 and a base 32 to be fixed to a gunwale. The head 33 has a stud 35 and the base 32 has a socket 36. The head 33 has an engaging pawl 37, and the engaging pawl 37 is engaged with an engaging groove provided on the stud 35. When the stud 35 is inserted into the socket 36 from the upper part, the engaging pawl 37 is fitted in the engaging groove 38.
