The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating degenerative brain disease, containing a Humulus japonicus extract or a fraction thereof and, more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating degenerative brain disease or a health functional food for preventing or alleviating the degenerative brain disease, containing a Humulus japonicus extract or fraction thereof which is effective in inhibiting dopaminergic neuronal cell death, protecting neuron against oxidative stress, and improving cognitive abilities and memory.
