The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating neurological diseases, containing an Orostachys japonica extract or fractions thereof. More specifically, fractions fractionated from Orostachys japonica exhibits a high total phenolic compound content. Particularly, the composition has ABTS, DPPF radical scavenging activity, FRAP and lipid peroxides production inhibiting activity, and improves a cell survival rate against neuronal cell death caused by hydrogen peroxides, and thus has a protective effect on cell membrane damage, thereby being able to be used as a pharmaceutical composition and a health functional food for preventing or treating neurological diseases.본 발명은 와송 추출물 또는 이의 분획물을 포함하는 신경질환 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 더욱 상세하게는 와송으로부터 분획한 분획물은 높은 총 페놀화합물 함량을 나타냈으며, 특히, ABTS, DPPF 라디칼 소거 활성과 FRAP 및 지방질과산화물 생성 억제 활성, 과산화수소로 인한 신경세포 사멸에 대한 세포 생존율을 향상시키며 신경세포의 세포막 손상 보호 활성 효과를 가지고 있어 신경질환 예방 또는 치료용 약학 조성물 및 건강기능식품으로 이용될 수 있다.
