An apparatus 1 for growing one or more plants, where the apparatus 1 includes a first and a second chamber which are separated from each other by a first dividing wall 15. The interior spaces of the first and the second chamber are connected by one or more connecting openings 16 in the first dividing wall 15. The second chamber 20 includes one or more exit openings 26 which are arranged on a second dividing wall 25. The first chamber 10 accommodates the roots of the plant and the second chamber 20 accommodates parts of the plant which comprises the crops. The leaf canopy of the plant is located above the second chamber 20, and means for fixing a plant part 17 are present at the connecting openings or in the region of the connecting openings.
