PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medium for raising of seedlings having a high germination rate while having a strength to stand a mechanical transplantation. SOLUTION: This medium for raising of seedlings is composed of the soil mixed with 0.1-10 wt.% of an acrylamide-based polymer comprising 71-97.5 mol.% of acrylamide monomer unit, 2-25 mol.% of ammonium acrylate monomer unit and 0.5-4 mol.% of 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (salt) monomer unit. The medium gives a strength required for a mechanical transplantation without restricting the objective crop and also without inhibiting germination and growing, and generates large practical effects such as improving work efficiency.
