The present invention relates to continuous process for the preparation of gelatin based nanoparticles In a reactor, the process comprising the following steps: feeding separately an aqueous gelatin solution at a first rate and a water-miscible organic solvent at a second rate to the reactor to be mixed therein, to form a suspension of non-croselinked gelatin based nanoparticles within 60 seconds from the time point at which the aqueous gelatin solution contacts the water-miscible organic solvent and B) feeding a solution of a crosslinking agent to the suspension.
