A tracking system and method for locating a vehicle and/or asset. The systemincludes an inertial navigation device with inertial navigation sensorsmounted onthe vehicle and/or asset for generating a position vector used to determine anabsolute vehicle/asset location. The system also includes a radio transmitterconnected to the navigation device for transmitting the position vector； and acentral monitoring station for receiving the position vector transmitted bythe radiotransmitter.
