The invention relates to a hygienic tourniquet formed by a strap (2) that has a fastener (3) at one end and is provided with teeth (4) on the upper face (2a) and with a trigger (5) having at least one pawl (6), in the fastener (3), the trigger being pivotably connected to a buckle (7) in a ratchet mechanism that tends to keep same pressed against the buckle (7), such that when the distal end (2b) of the strap (2) is inserted into the buckle (7), the pawl (6) of the trigger (5) engages with the teeth (4), preventing the release thereof until the trigger (5) is forced up. The trigger (5) comprises a tongue (8) for releasing same by pressing. The fastener (3) comprises an additional band (9) secured to the trigger (5) which, when pulled, raises the trigger (5) to release same.
