PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To favorably observe a horizontal hole or the like of a subject which is provided on a cylindrical hole without making an endoscope apparatus bulky while eliminating a problem to blur a part to be observed on the subject in white (halation).
SOLUTION: An illumination device for an endoscope is equipped with a long optical guide 11 made of a resin for guiding light, an endoscope insertion hole 12 which is drilled in the optical guide 11 along an axis X of the optical guide 11 from the proximal end surface 11a of the optical guide 11, an imaging opening 13 which is drilled in the optical guide 11 extending laterally in a manner to be perpendicular to the axis X of the optical guide 11 so that an imaging part of the borescope inserted into the endoscope insertion hole 12 is exposed to the outside, and an LED 32 to make the light enter the optical guide 11 from the proximal end surface 11a of the optical guide 11.
