Aspects of the present invention relate to nucleic acid constructs capable of expressing Zika antigens that elicit immune responses to Zicaviruses in mammals and methods of using them. In addition, DNA plasmid vaccines and methods for their use are provided that are capable of producing an immune response to Zicavirus in mammals, including DNA plasmids and pharmaceutically acceptable excipients.
