Exemplary embodiment discloses a portable fuel operated cotton picking device. The device includes a user wearable platform having a fuel engine for generating a power, a pulley mechanically coupled to the fuel engine through the shaft and a fan mechanically coupled to the pulley for creating a vacuum to enable an operation of sucking cotton from the plant. The device further includes a flexible cable fastened to the pulley to draw the rotational energy from the pulley, a first cotton collecting member extending from the fan allows a passage of cotton absorbed from the plant through a vacuum created by the fan and a hand held embodiment comprising a platform enclosing a plurality of tooth wheels connected to a first shaft and a second shaft to rotate a first belt drive mechanism and second belt drive mechanism for picking the cotton from plants.
