PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an access port assembly that can be placed into a patient while a catheter is still attached to the access port.SOLUTION: The access port assembly having an attachable catheter allows for inserting a guidewire into the catheter to aid in the placement of the integral catheter while still attached to the access port assembly.
