FIELD: medicine.SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, namely to means of installation of catheter in vascular system of patient. Method of determining length of medical component for use with ultrasound imaging system, including probe, involves placing of medical component in preset orientation relative to ultrasound probe so, that first angle is set between medical component and ultrasound probe, detection of characteristics relating to medical component by at least one sensor to determine its position in two spatial measurements and calculating of length of medical component using first angle and position of medical component part determined in two spatial measurements. Method of determining length of needle by system of ultrasound imaging involves placing of needle so, that first position of distal end of needle and first angle set between needle and support surface, are known to system, determination of position of magnetic element included in needle and needle length calculation using first position, first angle and position of magnetic element, which was determined. System for determining length of needle comprises number of magnetic sensors installed in support surface in ultrasound probe, device for attachment, which holds needle with possibility to be disconnected so, that said needle forms first angle relative to support plane, needle comprises magnetic element, located near its proximal end, and processor for determining position along axis x and position along axis y of magnetic element of needle and calculating of length of needle on basis of at least two values of following: first angle, position along axis x and position along axis y.EFFECT: use of inventions allows to provide accurate installation of catheter in vascular system.24 cl, 37 dwgГруппа изобретений относится к медицинской технике, а именно к средствам установки катетера в сосудистой системе пациента.
