The present invention relates to a medical device 100 for influencing a breathing condition of a patient P, comprising: at least one electrode patch 100EP to be externally applied to the patient P, wherein the electrode patch 100EP comprises a plurality of electrodes E1, E2； E3, E4； E5, and a control unit 100MSU, which is to be signal connected to the electrode patch 100EP and which comprises a microcontroller 100MSU-20 operable to apply at least one specified stimulus to the patient P via the electrodes E1, E2； E3, E4； E5 of the electrode patch 100EP in case an abnormal breathing condition (e.g. apnoe or hypopnoe) of the patient P is determined or predicted.
