Described herein is a hydrogel having a water content of at least 10 wt%. The hydrogel is derived from an aqueous composition comprising: a hydrophilic monomer comprising at least one of (meth)acrylate and (meth)acrylamide； at least 0.1 wt% of a water-swellable clay； at least 0.1 wt% cellulose nanocrystals； and a photoinitiator.
