PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscopic apparatus capable of highly precisely performing a light quantity control by securing a high light quantity resolution without causing a flicker in illumination light.SOLUTION: This endoscopic apparatus includes: a plurality of semiconductor light sources 67 that generate illumination light by emitting the illumination light of a desired light quantity from a distal end 35 of an endoscope insertion section 27 and a light source control means 73 for driving pulses to light the semiconductor light sources 67, wherein in the driving pulses, pulse density is modulated according to an input target light quantity. When at least a pulse interval between adjacent driving pulses of the target light quantity becomes a flicker-generating light quantity, the light source control means 73 switches from a first control for controlling the driving pulses to light the plurality of semiconductor light sources 67, to a second control for lighting only one semiconductor light source 67 and controlling the driving pulses to light the one semiconductor light source 67 at an increased lighting frequency.
