PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope system which can supply flickering light suitable for an endoscope equipped with a CMOS image sensor.
SOLUTION: The endoscope system includes the CMOS image sensor for imaging an image within the body cavity, a light source for supplying light which illuminates the inside of the body cavity, an illumination light flickering means, which is arranged on the optical path of illumination light supplied from the light source and periodically blinks passing illumination light, a control signal formation means which forms a control signal for controlling the flickering of the illumination light so that the illumination light illuminates the inside of the body cavity only in a global exposure period in an imaging means, and a flickering control means which controls the illumination light flickering means according to a control signal.
