Silane-modified oxide or silicate fillers have: (1) a fraction of pearls below 75 microns of below 15 wt.% as determined by sieve analysis； and (2) a median particle size of 130-500 microns, determined by laser diffraction without ultrasonic treatment. An Independent claim is also included for production of the silane-modified fillers by reacting the micro-pearled or microgranulated filler with a silane in a pressure- or temperature-compressed gas.
