The invention relates to a bio-indicator (1) for high frequency pulsed light decontamination, comprising a container (2) which contains a support element (3) for microorganisms (4). According to the invention, the container (2) comprises a hermetic envelope (20) which is formed by walls (21) of which at least one portion (23) is transparent to the radiation of pulsed light, this transparent portion (23) is arranged facing the support element (3) so that the microorganisms (4) can all be directly exposed to the radiation of pulsed light. The invention also relates to a method for preparing the bio-indicator (1) and to a method for monitoring the efficiency of a pulsed light decontamination installation. Selon l'invention, le contenant (2) comporte une enveloppe (20) hermétique qui est formée par des parois (21) dont au moins une portion (23) est transparente aux rayonnements de la lumière pulsée, cette portion (23) transparente est disposée au regard de l'élément support (3) afin que les micro-organismes (4) puissent être tous directement exposés aux rayonnements de la lumière pulsée. L'invention concerne également un procédé de préparation du bio-indicateur (1) et un procédé de contrôle de l'efficacité d'une installation de décontamination à la lumière pulsée.
